Becker's Dance Arts offers dance classes for ages 2-adult in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, character, grownup&me, workshops, camps, and Cecchetti Ballet beginning through professional levels.

Tuition Prices 2026-2027
30-35min class - $45/month + $10/year registration
40-45min class - $50/month + $10/year registration
50min-1hour class - $55/month + $10/year registration
1hour 15min class - $60/month + $10/year registration
1hour 30min class - $65/month + $10/year registration
1hour 45min class - $70/month + $10/year registration
-10% discount for 2nd class/sibling
-Becker’s Dance Arts participates with Three Rivers Homeschool Partnership and LAMP
-Workshops, summer classes, camps, parties, and special events may have separate pricing.
-Tuition has been divided into eight equal payments, due by the 7th of each month. A late fee of $10 will be added if payment is received after the 7th.
-Bounced checks will include a $45 fee due with payment.

-If classes are cancelled for any reason or if a class is missed, students may attend a teacher designated makeup class when applicable, usually within a couple of weeks. No refunds are given. Makeup classes are for current students.
Dress Code
Ballet
Girls – Pink ballet slippers, pink ballet tights, solid color black leotard. Hair in bun.
Boys – Black ballet slippers, black shorts or dance pants, white t-shirt. Hair pulled back.
Note: Pre-ballet dancers are also able to wear skirts and non-black solid color leotards.
Pointe
Pointe shoes, pink ballet tights, solid color black leotard, occasional ballet skirt. Hair in bun.
Tap
Girls – Black tap shoes, tights or leggings, solid color leotard. Hair pulled back.
Boys – Black tap shoes, black shorts or dance pants, t-shirt. Hair pulled back.
Jazz
Girls – Black jazz shoes, black tights/jazz pants, solid color leotard. Hair pulled back.
Boys – Black jazz shoes, black dance pants, t-shirt. Hair pulled back.
Lyrical
Girls - Ballet slippers, solid color leotard, tights, dance shorts or skirt. Hair pulled back.
Boys – Ballet slippers, black dance pants or shorts, t-shirt. Hair pulled back.
Character
Girls - Low heel black buckle character shoes, black leotard, pink or skin-tone tights. Hair pulled back. We have black character practice skirts to use during class.
Boys – Black jazz shoes, black dance pants or shorts, white t-shirt. Hair pulled back.
Grownup&Me – comfortable clothing or dance attire, clean pair of shoes, dance shoes or socks.
Note: All dancers may wear dance sweaters when the weather is cold.
Where to Buy Dance Attire
Becker’s Dance Arts has basics for sale at the studio such as ballet slippers, tights, leotards, and dance sweaters. You may also purchase on Amazon. Dance brands that usually work well are Block, Capezio, and Danskin. For pointe shoe purchases or any other questions ask Ms. Gretchen.
Teacher Bios
Ms. Gretchen
Owner/Director
Gretchen Becker is a Certified Licentiate Ballet Teacher Member of the Cecchetti Council of America (CCA), with completion of students’ and teachers’ exams I-VI. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan with a focus on child development and dance technique. Gretchen trains students and teachers into professional level and sponsors student and teacher candidates for certification through CCA.
Gretchen began her dance training in the Cecchetti Method of classical ballet and later added Graham Technique, tap, jazz, musical theater, swing, voice, liturgical, and floor barre. She continued her training an additional two years in New York at Steps on Broadway and Broadway Dance Center with Finis Jhung, Madame Darvash, Frank Hatchett, Sheila Barker, Gil Stroming, and Mia Michaels. She has also completed many courses in quality of movement, arts education and equity, inclusion, mindfulness, formative assessment, trauma and resiliency, and the art of student discussion through CCA, Juilliard Creative Classroom, Lincoln Center Activate and Rhythm Works Integrative Dance.
Gretchen was a member of the Lansing Ballet Company II performing in Sleeping Beauty and La Fille Mal Garde. Later, she performed in Martha Graham’s Panorama with the University of Michigan, Scrooge with Shawnee Playhouse in Pennsylvania, and West Side Story with Grosse Point Theatre in Michigan. She choreographed Tale of Beethoven’s Bookworms and Broadway History 1891 – 1999 for Calhoun School (NYC, NY), Footloose the Musical and White Christmas the Musical for Three Rivers High School (Three Rivers, MI).
Gretchen has adjudicated for the Michigan State University Dance Team, the Children’s Ballet Company of Lansing, and several studio competition teams throughout Michigan. She was also a recurring guest teacher for the Macomb Arts Festival, PUCC and KCC Christian retreats, and the WMCCA Ballet Day scholarship classes. Gretchen was a Certified Dance Educator of Dance Masters of Michigan (DMM) and Dance Masters of America (DMA) (2001 – 2010).
As a dance educator Gretchen has worked for over 25 years in private and public schools. Currently, Gretchen is a Dance Teaching Artist with Education for the Arts (EFA), Kalamazoo RESA. She teaches and develops dance residencies for K-12 programs including Aesthetic Education (AE), PACE Program, and Alternative Arts Initiative (AAI). Gretchen also develops video classroom lessons for AE, PACE, and EFA Presents with topics including music/dance connections, social emotional learning, work of art discovery, and performance readiness. She is the Western Michigan CCA Chair and WMCCA Registrar and is the owner of both Becker’s Dance Arts and of Ballet Arts School of Dance.
Gretchen and her husband Jay live in Portage and have two adult sons.

Additional Information
Drop off/pickup
Parents may wait in the lobby or drop off/pick up their dancer. We do recommend parents of small children wait in the lobby as you will be called if your young dancer needs help in the bathroom.
Inclement weather
In the event that we need to cancel due to inclement weather and/or hazardous road conditions, we will post updates on facebook and this website. As always, if you feel unsafe traveling, please stay home and attend a makeup class the following week. We want everyone to be safe.
Behavior
Everyone is expected to treat families, dancers, staff, and visitors respectfully and with kindness. Becker's Dance Arts reserves the right to dismiss anyone due to behavior.
